About the book
The 11th print edition of Eric Frangenheim's best-selling book, Reflections on Classroom Thinking Strategies, has sold more than 35,000 copies and remains a trusted and inspiring resource for teachers from prep to university. A highly practical guide and motivational read, Reflections will help every teacher and leader feel more confident in weaving thinking tools intro everyday learning to create their thinking classroom.

Everything in this book was forged and tested in the classroom. It is a book about teaching, by teachers, for teachers. It is designed to encourage passion for teaching with an eye on that all-important ingredient called FUN!

Reflections shares Eric's favourite thinking tools with step-by-step guides to apply them to any classroom task and environment, no matter the subject, year level or student proficiency. Reflections also shares Eric's classroom observations and advice for motivated educators, taken from his experience over 25 years working as an educational consultant in classrooms, staff rooms and workshop settings across Australia and New Zealand. Prior to his consultancy work, Eric worked as a history teacher and then deputy principal over 20 years.

Eric's Thinking Skills Framework is at the heart of his work, and in this book he shares how vital this structure is for explicit teaching and for enabling students to be proactive, independent and vibrant thinkers. Eric will show you how to embrace this Thinking Skills Framework and make it the core of your lessons. This Framework will not only help you as an educator simplify your lesson planning and assessment design, but also help your students to understand the structure of thinking (from foundation to higher-order thinking) and teach them to know when, how and why to tackle a task using the appropriate thinking tools.

About the project
This book was originally a print book that Qld Museum published, and this Corals section was only one chapter out of that book. Implementing our Ebook Designer's Touch™, we took the files that they gave us (which were more suited to a print layout) and we re-designed the pages so that the text was larger and the layout worked better for a Fixed Layout ebook. Once this was done, we converted the PDF we had created into a Fixed Layout epub and mobi with several cross-references throughout, linking pages to other pages etc. We also did some updating to the customer's existing iBooks file which was an enhanced version of the above ebook, ensuring that pages linked correctly and did some minor adjustments to text and images. Then we published the ibooks file, the epub and the mobi to the relevant vendors.

About the project

The customer supplied us with a pdf with audio which we converted to a fixed layout epub from the supplied files. It was a new challenge for us in that it had many audio files which Kobo don’t support, so a separate epub was provided for Kobo without embedded audio. Google Play only supports certain types of audio files and, although this fit into the category Google Play specified, As the file was optimised initially for iBooks, however, it works well on the iPad with all audio files working correctly. ...continue reading "Make Your Own Mr Curly & Other Clarinets"

Project Information

This was a conversion only project which involved converting a customer supplied richly-designed 256 page book to fixed layout epub format. Additional to the standard non-enhanced versions, we also converted the manuscript to an enhanced epub that included interactive form fields allowing the user to enter text in the form and press a submit button. A tick or cross would appear to indicate whether their answer was correct. We also included a reset option for clearing the form fields. The enhanced ebook technology is continually being improved and we are always on the lookout for further updates. It is presently only supported by Apple.

About the project
This project started off with us designing the front cover using a combination of graphics, grungy filter overlays and graffiti type fonts giving it that urban hip hop type look and feel. The customer supplied us with 16 high quality mp3 audio files as per our Multimedia Submission Guidelines containing music, intro and outro. The audio files were embedded at the highest possible quality as accepted by Apple which was requested by the customer. Once the final product was approved by the customer we then distributed it to Apple.

About the project
We aggregated this ibooks author file to Apple for the customer, after making some adjustments to the iBooks Author (iba) file (including reducing the size of the video file within) we were supplied with so that it went through to Apple smoothly with the correct metadata and coding.

We went on to remove the video so that the book could be created as a regular reflowing ePub and Mobi, which could be read across all e-readers. We then aggregated the book to all the major vendors.

About the project

This project included converting a customer supplied pdf manuscript to standard fixed layout epub and mobi plus an enhanced fixed layout epub to be distributed to Apple. The customer supplied us with an mp3 audio file which was embedded into the enhanced version as media overlay (audio narration attached to text). All illustrations including the front cover were supplied by the customer. We optimised all supplied images to ensure the file size of the final ebook wasn’t too large but were of good quality. Once the customer approved the all conversions, we then distributed it to all major vendors.

Additional to ebook conversion and distribution, we also set-up and uploaded print ready PDFs to our Print on Demand.
