About the book
Help children learn how to keep their cool.
"The Anger Volcano: A Book About Anger for Kids" is for children who need a little bit of inspiration to control their temper. A valuable resource for parents, counsellors, youth workers and teachers, it builds on the principles of neuroplasticity. "The Anger Volcano" encourages kids to use simple rhymes and exercises to train their brain, so that anger explosions can become a thing of the past.
About the author
Amanda Greenslade is an Australian writer and a parent with multiple family members in the syndrome mix of ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder - Asperger's and Sensory Processing Disorder (Sensory Integration Dysfunction). Her journey led her to create 'The Anger Volcano', a book for children who need some help managing their frustration and anger.
About the project
We created the print layout and cover design for the print edition, which was released via print-on-demand. We also created the ebook version to be distributed through Kindle Select.
This book is for all the caregivers of children with anger management needs, emotional regulation challenges, learning disabilities, speech impediments, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, sensory processing disorder and other extra challenges in their lives. It is also a book for those who have been through childhood trauma or have troubled backgrounds.
Parents, counsellors, youth workers, psychologists, OTs and teachers need The Anger Volcano as it puts into simple rhymes and black and white pictures, some concepts that are new to a lot of people. It's one thing to teach anger management, relaxation, mental distraction techniques to adults and something else entirely to train children.
Amanda recommends getting professional help, and cannot sing the praises of psychologists and other specialists highly enough, but she also sees a need for some to-the-point tools that adults can use with children on anger, self-esteem and big emotions.
Making a children's book financially viable with print-on-demand is challenging, and Amanda wanted to get this book into the hands of those who need it, without crippling up-front or ongoing costs. To this end, Amanda first published The Anger Volcano in a small paperback format (165 x 165 mm or 6.5 x 6.5in) with a black and white interior. It is priced at just AUD$7.99 (USD$6.99), which makes it very affordable.
Getting the content, production and price aspects right is the first step in successful book marketing. Meta-data is also crucial. In this case, you can see that the book says what it is in the title 'A Book About Anger for Kids'. This not only makes it clear what the book is, but contains the keyword 'anger' and the keyword phrase 'anger for kids'.
These strategies, based on her Book Marketing Action Plan, can be used by other authors too. Amanda will gladly teach you the strategies and analyse all your book's set-up as part of this service. You can find out more through either the AEP or PMBO websites.
