About the Project:
Anne had already designed most of her book and got a test print created from a different company - however when she received that printed copy, she was unhappy with the result and ended up coming to us to fix it. We made several adjustments to the cover and inside layout and then produced the book for print on demand. The final file was then converted in to a reflowing epub and mobi file. ...continue reading "Belongings"

About the project
Myra and the Magic Motorcycle is Amanda Greenslade's, the director of Australian eBook Publisher, debut children's book. After the book was written Amanda coordinated the editing and the illustrations, which were done digitally by Glen Holman.

Amanda then arranged audio narration recording, purchased sound effects, did the printed book design layout, designed the cover, designed the non-enhanced and enhanced ebook editions and coordinated publishing. Amanda and the team at are currently still working on the marketing for Myra, on a shoestring budget.

Unlike most children's books that are designed for print and then the ebook edition may not work very well at e-reader or tablet size, we started with the iPad dimensions in mind. We asked ourselves what was the best way to present a children's book on the iPad. We later made the print edition.

For more on these ebook design decisions, you may be interested in the video recorded by Amanda here.

Some time after the original release of the book, we worked on an audiobook version of Myra and the Magic Motorcycle. The audiobook was narrated by Kelly Stroud and Caitlin Stroud. Once the files met Audible specifications, it was released for sale.

About the project
This project was a fun one to work on. Rob had loads of family pictures (over a hundred) from his travels with his wife around the globe. We designed the print layout of Rob’s book using the supplied text and images. We made some adjustments to the photos to make sure they appeared to the best effect in the book. Once we had the layout and Rob was happy we moved onto the cover. We used another of Rob’s travel photos, and his blurb, to create the print cover. Once we were all happy with the print layout and the cover we sent it to print-on-demand to be printed in full colour. Rob ordered some copies for himself that arrived just before Christmas and was happy with the result.

About the project
After proofreading Marjolyn’s three books (one fiction, two non-fiction), we converted them from Word documents to epub and mobi files. There were some images and tables in the non-fiction books, so care was taken in keeping uniformity of size and quality of these images. We designed the covers in consultation with the author and are very pleased with the results.

In November/December 2014 our marketing team also ran a small campaign to promote the three books. This included:

  • ebook meta-data analysis for enhancing ebook sales
  • drafting a marketing plan
  • arranging a small no. of reviews and ads
  • designing and hosting the author’s website
  • Facebook, Goodreads and Shelfari author pages and management

About the book
Marjolyn Wayenberg, nee Terlaak, was born in the East Indies, now known as Indonesia. Her husband Robert was also born there.

Being from Dutch background, Marjolyn learned to speak English at the age of twelve and became a teacher.

While teaching and having four children, she went on to learn many healing modalities on a part-time basis.

She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1994. Over the next decade, it became increasingly difficult to manage. It became so bad that she wished she could die until…

Marjolyn realised as time went on that the predictions her mother-in-law had made a decade earlier were starting to come to fruition. The last one being: ‘Your legs will be all right.’

Read about her journey towards healing.

About the book
As we pray, in our desperation we often ask for ‘salvation’ or a ‘miracle’ to be delivered from hardships and trials. Remember, we are part of God, and He wants us to trust that we are His, made in his image, have inherited God’s qualities and are powerful.

Rather than ask for a miracle, BE THE MIRACLE.

Continuing on from Read the Signs, this book reveals more of the story behind MarjolynWayenberg and her battle with MS. Read how her positive outlook and knowledge of spiritual healing is enabling her to cope with multiple sclerosis.

She has even tried the controversial “Bee Treatment”, allowing bees to sting her, which returned sensitivity to parts of her body that had become numb.

Marjolyn holds nothing back in her candid account of how MS has affected her body and her life. The reality may be harsh but the truth of healing will be an inspiration to you.

About the project
Harvey already had a published book in The Tiger Tea Club; however, the inside layout had been typeset by the printer so the pages were really just a Word document sized onto book sized paper. We proofread, typeset for print and altered the cover to fit the new dimensions. We applied print book design skills to the layout, introducing chapter graphics, a custom dinkus, appropriate margins and other aesthetic formatting features.

We then set up the new book file with Print on Demand and turned it into a reflowing ePub and Mobi file that was distributed through all the major channels. ...continue reading "The Tiger Tea Club"

About the project

Vicki came to us with a Microsoft Word file manuscript and a series of watercolour images from her illustrator Nicky Johnston. We designed the cover utilising one of the watercolours and used Adobe InDesign and our outstanding book design skills to make it suitable for young readers.

We made the book available for print through Print on Demand and created the reflowing eBook formats (ePub and Mobi) for distribution online.

About the project

We started this project off by designing a print layout for the book. There were photos that needed to be captioned as well as a plethora of footnotes that needed to be checked. We then designed a print and ebook cover with customer’s inspiration in mind.

After the print layout was finished and sent to the printer we moved into the ebook conversion stage. This book was a fairly simple reflowing conversion thanks to the print layout; the only thing we had to be careful with was keeping the images looking nice and turning the footnotes into endnotes. We’re really happy with the outcome, both the print and ebook look great. ...continue reading "Russian Embers: A journey in search of home"

About the project
In 2013, Warren came to us with a 10,000 word manuscript to be converted into ebook for distribution.

Wedesigned the front cover and completed the ebook conversion, then distrubuted it to our usual vendors.

Some time after the ebook conversion process, Warren asked us to create a print layout for his book to be distributed via print-on-demand. We then readied the book for print-on-demand. We used the style and design that had already been established in the ebook and adjusted the front cover for print. Then wecreated and laid out the interior pages to suit the cover. During the print layout process, care was taken to ensure styles of headings and font choice was consistent with the genre of the book and style of the cover.

There were no images in the content which made both the print and ebook projects a very simple and straightforward process.

About six months after the print book was completed Warren came to us with an updated manuscript with an additional 20-30,000 words. His short story had been developed in a novella. We provided a thorough line edit in tracked changes. Once the edit was complete we then undertook a proofread to tidy up the manuscript. the next step was to re-do the ebook and print editions.

The next step was to re-do the ebook and print editions. Warren had a new size in mind for his print book so we re-laid it out for print at a smaller book size. We adjusted the design to better suit a novel and the sci-fi genre. The ebook conversion followed smoothly on from that and both ebook and print book were re-distributed with updated metadata.
