Later this became a print project, so we used the Microsoft word document and created a visually appealing print book. Shortly after the process had begun, Ray decided the book, with it’s new layout and cover looked so good that he wanted to see it in print and the job was scaled up to include Print on Demand. This required that the book cover be expanded to include the spine and back and the inside layout was typeset for print.

This was a very rewarding project to work on. Stephen has spent many years working on this non-fiction work about Australian history, particularly as it related to convicts, PTSD and his own family.
Our marketing expert worked with Stephen in the early phase of his book to get his blurb and metadata keywords just right, as well as providing some advice on the best options for the cover. About the Project
When we first started on Maria's business book project it was with a proofread of her manuscript. We then created a print layout inspired by the front cover design she supplied. The layout was fun to do and a little bit more creative as it had a variety of different requirements. There were pull quotes, chapter lead pages with images of specific contributors, multiple heading levels as well as the body text. After some tweaking Maria was happy with the layout and we made it ready for printing. We also designed the back and spine of Maria's book to match the front. About the project
Lisa and Raymond brought us their manuscript as a Word file to be prepared for print-on-demand and converted into an ebook.
On first assessment, we discovered that a lot of the images were too poor quality to be displayed well in print, so we sourced new images and used them during the book layout phase of the project (typesetting).
We also designed the cover, making sure it fit the specific printing requirements for this book via print-on-demand. The thickness of the spine is only known after the internals have been designed, for example.
Once the print files were created we used them to create the reflowing epub and mobi files.
The result was a high quality, professional and practical handbook for people with dementia and their carers.

About the Project
Angad's book project was for print and ebook. We started with the cover design, using imagery requested by the customer. This project was very straightforward, with no corrections throughout. We took the customer's supplied manuscript and typeset it for print, using the cover design for inspiration. We then aggregated the book to print on demand. At the same time we worked on the ebook conversion, taking the final print design and formatting it for digital reading. The customer signed off on the project and we aggregated the ebook to our usual vendors. Angad was a pleasure to work with, and we wish her the best.

Project Information
Allison Jenkinson came to us with an idea for a new kind of ABC book to help children learn the alphabet. She had some basic sketches and a manuscript and she wanted to turn them in to finished print book files for her to self-publish.
We gave the manuscript a little bit of editing and digitised her sketches for her - converting the line art in to vector images and then sprucing them up, colouring them in and moving elements around to better fit the page. We also included a few extra images in to the backgrounds to help emphasise the letters in question.
