About the Project
The Inveiglement series project started out with three print cover designs for each book in the trilogy. Abrams & Elliott came to us with a clear brief about how they wanted their books to look. They were inspired by Fifty Shades of Grey and chose to print their books at a larger paperback size for impact.

With the covers designed we moved on to the print layout of book one. At this time the text for book two and three is still being written and edited. Again, like the covers, Abrams & Elliott were able to tell us exactly how they wanted their books to look, particularly in using a san serif font that switched between bold and regular type depending on the character. They also had an infinity symbol to separate the type, and a version of their logo as a text separator.

Project Information
Petra approached us about publishing her book, and not long after we received her manuscript ready to be converted into an ebook. We designed the cover, converted it to both epub and mobi formats, then loaded it to all major vendors. The customer was happy with the final result and it was a pleasure working with Petra. ...continue reading "Life Journeys"

Lee approached us with her manuscript in a Word document, with a few photographs, wanting to tell her story undergoing total knee replacement surgery, converting the manuscript in to ePub and Mobi files.

We designed the cover before progressing to conversion. The job ended up being rather simple and easy, culminating in a very efficient, professional looking ebook along the lines of a medical self-help guide.

About the book
Total knee replacement (knee arthroplasty) is now almost common place; nevertheless the prospect of this life changing surgery remains daunting.  Everyone has an opinion—or a horror story and all it seems are willing to share.

In January 2015 Lee Everest underwent major surgery for total knee replacement after suffering from degenerative knee disease for over 20 years.  The outstanding success of the operation prompted Lee to share her journey.  If you’re nervously awaiting the surgeon’s knife Lee’s informative description of the crucial first days post-op and the highs and lows of recovery and rehabilitation will demystify the process and is recommended reading!

About the project
This book was supplied as a Word document originally. First of all, this book was edited by one of our experienced editors. We then did the full design of the book—including the front cover—optimising all images, designing all type and each element on the page before doing a full layout proof. We then converted it to a Fixed Layout ebook. ...continue reading "My Healthy Appetite"

About the project

Glen Holman, a talented member of our team, illustrated Corporate Survival then converted it to ePub and mobi. We then aggregated it to major ebook vendors. We also designed a website for the author and provided some marketing services.

About the book
The Pocket Guide offers a view of corporate life which is honest, funny and refreshingly different. It is essential reading for anyone working for or thinking of joining a large company or multinational. It will lead you through the corporate minefield to career success.

You begin as a new recruit and end as an established business leader. As you make this journey, you learn about the real role of Human Resources (the KGB of corporate life), how to manage your workload (without becoming a 24/7 employee) and are warned about the personal qualities and behaviours (such as courage, integrity and initiative) which may lead to career failure.

On the way you are introduced to office politics, the management class system, a new corporate language (with real meanings provided), and the best way to manage your sex life at company conferences. The importance of socialising and networking is considered.

The Guide contrasts the lofty goals of organisational visions, values and mission statements with the tawdry realities of business life and the cynical disbelief of employees. For the first time in print, the real purpose of corporate policies and procedure is explained as well as the difficulty of working with human beings rather than robots.

You learn about the art of appearing to make decisions without actually doing so and how to survive in the labyrinth of a multinational matrix management structure.

Finally, there are a few serious words in the last chapter as food for thought.

"A witty insider exposes the fake gloss of corporate life while sharply separating the smart from the stupid. HR be scared!"

Glenn Daniel. Nova Entertainment (Glenn Daniel is a well known Sydney radio journalist and winner of 2014 Best News Presenter (FM Metro) award as well as 2014 Brian White Memorial Award)

"A highly entertaining and in many instances factual stroll through Corporate Life. A must read for all current and budding Corporate Executives especially those with their eyes on the top HR role"

J.T. (A retired senior executive)

About the project
Julie brought her book to us as a Word Document. We started with an edit of the recipes before progressing with the ebook development. Once this was complete we used our Ebook Designer's Touch to design the interior, though we kept the book to Julie's specifications and kept her involved in every level of design. We also worked with Julie on the cover design, using an image she provided and making some updates to make it complete.

We converted the file from a word document to a reflowing ePub and Mobi file for all major vendors. ...continue reading "Julz’s Kitchen: A bit of this and a dash of that"

About the project
This project involved converting the customer supplied Word document into standard reflowing epub and mobi formats. We also did the cover design. Once the final drafts were approved, we then distributed the ebook to all major vendors.

About the book
An Australian commando officer, Harry Bell, barely escapes death from a roadside bomb in Iraq. He returns home and adapts his security and surveillance technology to fight a new battle against global criminal organisations operating in drugs trafficking and money-laundering scams.

A serial killer scientist leaves a trail of unexplained deaths throughout southern Australia.

Harry gathers a team of IT and ex-military associates to provide support services to federal law enforcement agencies to track and detain the killers. His system is hacked by an insider in the pay of the criminals. Subsequently the battle becomes intensely personal when a friend is abducted and a nephew is murdered.

Harry’s team plays a leading role in covert surveillance missions combined with his hi-tech tracking software application to establish a link between the drugs trafficking and money-laundering operations.

About the project
This project was a fun one to work on. Rob had loads of family pictures (over a hundred) from his travels with his wife around the globe. We designed the print layout of Rob’s book using the supplied text and images. We made some adjustments to the photos to make sure they appeared to the best effect in the book. Once we had the layout and Rob was happy we moved onto the cover. We used another of Rob’s travel photos, and his blurb, to create the print cover. Once we were all happy with the print layout and the cover we sent it to print-on-demand to be printed in full colour. Rob ordered some copies for himself that arrived just before Christmas and was happy with the result.
