We converted this book from a customer supplied word document to standard epub and mobi. Prior to the conversion stage we designed the front cover and added Ebook Designer's Touch™. Once Steve approved the conversion, we then distributed his ebook to Apple, Amazon, Kobo and Google. This was a conversion and distribution project where we converted the pdf manuscript provided by the customer to a reflowing ebook. The manuscript contained a lot of images as expected from an exercise/training book and at first glance thought this one would be more suitable as a fixed layout conversion. After analysing the entire book, we decided that it would work well as a reflowing ebook which the customer approved. Once the customer was satisfied with the final conversion we distributed this ebook to Amazon, Apple, Kobo and Google.

We first had to convert a hard copy book to digital format as there was no electronic file. We chopped the spine from the book and scanned then OCR’d the book, in order to be able to convert it to epub and mobi format. There were 30 images to be optimized and inserted into the book. We then aggregated the book to Apple, Amazon, Kobo and Google Play using client-supplied metadata. It was a pleasure to work with Doug and we wish him all the best with the sales of his book.

What we did:

This project was a conversion only project, so we used the files we were supplied with and created the epub and mobi. There were 27 chapters and 25 images. We used the client-supplied cover to create a nice, clean-looking ebook.

Australian eBook Publisher carried out our Ebook Designer’s Touch™ on this ebook, paying careful attention to the formatting the customer wanted included in the book. There were many different sub-levels of headings which needed to be displayed differently in order for the book to be readable.

When it came to converting it to an ebook, it involved embedding some of these fonts to keep the consistency throughout the book. Embedding fonts ensured that the book wouldn’t lose these heading levels as some headings were more recognisable by the differing font. What we did:

Using the customer’s 104,000 word document (Microsoft word format), we did the entire book layout and organised the printing for the customer. The book layout involved formatting over 1000 footnotes, multiple level headings and the design of icons for the beginning of each chapter. Once the book layout was done, we commenced the conversion to ebook.

The footnotes became endnotes which were hyperlinked and inserted into the ebook. It was converted to epub and mobiand we are very happy with the layout of the ebook, as it looks very similar to the print layout—which doesn’t always happen simply due to the fact that some things don’t represent as well in digital format. The chapter icons presented well and the multi-level headings all looked great.

Many find it impossible to believe Jesus’ words were recorded accurately because he did not write the New Testament himself and there were not mechanical or electronic methods of recording his teachings.

Furthermore, surely the hand-copying over the centuries must have distorted the original manuscripts. This book presents evidence showing that the New Testament is an accurate portrayal of the life and teachings of Jesus.

What we did:

Australian eBook Publisher typeset Dirt Busters (created the book layout for print) and converted it to the two main eBook formats, epub and mobi. This included working with supplied artwork and designing the front cover (front, spine and back) for print. We assisted the author to arrange offset printing.
