About the project
We first started working with Ross on a rush version of an ebook. This ebook was based on his Word document manuscript, which included 12 hand-drawn illustrations, which had then been scanned. The ebook conversion was swift, with a cover design created quickly during the process. Within only a couple of weeks, we went from manuscript to published ebook.
Later, Ross decided he wanted to have a print version of his book, and we worked with him to make this dream a reality. We first started by reviewing Ross' illustrations, which had been quite rough (scroll to the bottom of this page to see a couple examples of the original drawings). We re-drew all his illustrations digitally in Adobe Illustrator to simplify and clarify them. Once the illustrations were complete we updated the front cover to include the back and spine, and gave it a few aesthetic adjustments.
We then worked on the typesetting of the interior and inserted the illustrations where needed. This process included updating the manuscript with some corrections. After this was complete we distributed the print edition via print-on-demand.
As the original ebook did not reflect the current manuscript, we redid the conversion based on the updated print edition. We then updated the ebook files online with these new and improved versions.
During this process, Ross also took up our Marketing Package 1 to assist him in the development of the cover and some of his metadata.
